Endoscopic Endonasal Approach in the Smart Cyber Operating Theater (SCOT): Preliminary Clinical Application

چکیده
A next-generation networked operating room, Smart Cyber Operating Theater (SCOT), has been developed in cooperation with medical engineers that integrates standalone devices, including intraoperative magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) using the OPeLiNK communication interface. Here, we report application of this newly advanced type theater for endoscopic endonasal approach (EEA), along an evaluation our initial experiences. The study population consisted 18 patients parasellar tumor. All underwent surgery via EEA SCOT. During all procedures, various types information, electrophysiologic monitoring, anatomic orientation navigation system, MRI, and images operative field, were collected stored by OPeLiNK. Furthermore, information was shared surgical strategy desk, where a senior neurosurgeon can direct manage procedure real-time. We successfully completed procedures SCOT cases. Using OPeLiNK, operators able to share data, such as obtained intraoperatively instrument position from systems, well neurosurgeons at desk Surgically relevant these sources transmitted through displayed staff. necessary nuances reflected procedures. SCOT, which is considered innovative operation system neurosurgery, enables both quality safety EEA. use may also contribute education young neurosurgeons.

In Japan, most of children haven’t read children’s story (Fairy tales or tales of old Japan) because the high technology video games are more exciting than most of picture books. But they must be effective to bring up the children’s cultivation of aesthetic sensitivity. And we have heard from teachers of elementary schools that most of themes of computer education in school are the operation of...
متن کاملEndoscopic Endonasal Approach to Mesencephalic Cavernous Malformations.
BACKGROUND Symptomatic cavernous malformations involving the brainstem are difficult to access by conventional approaches, which often require dramatic brain retraction to gain adequate operative corridor. Here, we present a successful endoscopic endonasal transclival approach for resection of a hemorrhagic, symptomatic mesencephalic cavernous malformation. CASE DESCRIPTION A 20-year-old woma...
متن کاملEndoscopic endonasal approach for nonvestibular schwannomas.
BACKGROUND Nonvestibular schwannomas of the skull base often represent a challenge owing to their anatomic location. With improved techniques in endoscopic endonasal skull base surgery, resection of various ventral skull base tumors, including schwannomas, has become possible. OBJECTIVE To assess the outcomes of using endoscopic endonasal approach (EEA) for nonvestibular schwannomas of the sk...
متن کاملEndoscopic endonasal approach for cerebrospinal fluid fistulae.
Different techniques have been proposed to repair cerebrospinal fluid rhinorrhea. Advances in nasal surgery led to a high success rate and low morbidity for the endonasal approach. It has become the favorite route for treating cerebrospinal fluid leaks of the anterior skull base. Better results have been obtained with the improvement of rigid endoscopes and intrathecal sodium fluorescein. In a ...
متن کاملEndoscopic expanded endonasal approach: preliminary experience with the new 3D endoscope
The recent introduction of the 3D endoscope for endonasal surgery has been welcomed because of its promise to overcome the main limitation of endoscopy, namely the lack of stereoscopic vision. This innovation particularly regarded the most complex transnasal surgery of the skull base. We therefore discuss our early experience as ENT surgeons with the use of a purely 3D endoscopic expanded endon...
